The proposal of renowned historical Gunnar Wetterberg to create a federal Nordic state that would be similar to the former Kalmar and headed by Queen of Denmark Margarethe II did not impress of the heads of governments at today’s Nordic summit in Stockholm.

Wetterberg made his proposal, which created considerable furore, in today’s issue of the Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter. Wetterberg believes that a federal Nordic state would be more influential on the international stage than each Nordic country separately, because Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland together form the tenth biggest economic region of the world.
