On 12 August at 15:00, the debate "How strong are the Nordic countries? Strong enough to be happy!?" took place in Paide Vallimägi in the European area at the Festival of Opinion Culture, which was organised by the Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Estonia. We asked three people to come and talk about Nordic welfare from different angles: Helen Russell, a British writer; Joar Vittersø, Professor of Psychology at the Arctic University of Norway, and Bengt Lindroth, a Swedish journalist. Russell represented a glimpse into the Nordic welfare model, Lindroth was focused on the topic of why there were still so many unhappy people in the Nordic countries and why the number was increasing, and Joar Vittersø added a scientific perspective on happiness to the debate. Villu Arak moderated the English debate and it was translated to sign language.
