Cybercation 2024 will take place on November 1st. Organised by the Nordic Council of Ministers in Estonia, CTF Tech and Telia Estonia, the conference will feature Rainer Ratnik, CEO of the law firm Widen, as a key speaker and panellist.

In an opinion piece for ERR, Ratnik underscores the vital need to include cyber education in school programs. According to Ratnik, every classroom should cover cyber topics: “Cybercrime is everywhere, yet awareness is low. It’s as essential as learning history, math or English,” he states.

At the international Cybercation 2024 conference in Tartu, cyber experts and educators from Estonia and the Nordic countries will discuss how to develop cyber education and prepare essential cybersecurity specialists. Lead organiser, Grete Kodi from the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Estonia, notes a lack of a systematic approach to cyber skills education in Estonia. “We must act quickly to make cybersecurity skills an essential part of every young person’s education,” she emphasises.

Rainer Ratnik, CEO of the law firm Widen, adds that cyber topics should reach schools to raise awareness and reduce the number of cybercrime victims. In addition to the Cybercation discussion panels on November 1st, the event will feature the finals of the Telia Cyber Battle of Nordic-Baltics and the CyberSpike 2024 hacking competition.

The leaders of the law firm Widen, Rainer and Henri Ratnik, warn that the careless use of AI tools can have serious repercussions, especially concerning privacy breaches and commercial use restrictions. The attorneys stress the need for caution when sharing personal data with AI systems and using content generated by them, as violations could lead to severe fines.

They also point out that as AI evolves, new cyber threats will emerge, including user manipulation and data leaks. In the interview, they also discuss Estonia’s cybersecurity and data protection weaknesses, emphasising the need for stronger oversight and technical security measures.

Rainer and Henri Ratnik will also speak at the Cybercation 2024 conference in Tartu on November 1st, where topics related to AI and cybersecurity will be addressed.
