Pippi Longstocking, Emil of Lönneberga, Karlsson-on-the-Roof. Astrid Lindgren has sold 150 million copies of her books and she is one of the most-read authors in the world. But who was she and where did her stories come from? Using unique archive material, this new documentary tells the story of her life to a new generation.

Astrid Lindgren was a special person whose life and stories have so many layers that she still keeps surprising us all, says the film’s director Kristina Lindström.

As a young woman, Astrid was strongly influenced by the time in which she lived and the standards that people followed back then. As an author and later also an opinion leader, she managed to make some irreversible changes in time and in the way we think.
