The EU countries agreed to adopt a common strategy for the Baltic Sea region last year. Among other issues one of the key challenges to be addressed by the strategy is prosperity and sustainable environment of the region that can be achieved by innovative technologies and business modalities.
In this framework, the 9 th ScanBalt Forum 2010 will be organized in Tallinn, September 22-24, 2010. The forum subtitled as Healthy Future will focus on the variety of issues from life style and food to health related technologies and services as well as industrial biotechnology. All these issues are targeting to longer and better life, whether by getting more efficient and effective health services or improving our environment.
The Forum programme includes:
- Plenary and ScanBalt Academy sessions;
- Session on Smart Growth as a Tool to Compete;
- Session on ScanBalt Health Region;
- Session on Healthy Ageing in the Baltic Sea Region;
- Session on Patient Mobility and Health Industry;
- Healthy Food and Efficient Food Industry sessions;
- Session on Biotechnology parks in the ScanBalt Region;
- Session on the Estonian Bioeconomy: Status Quo and Future Perspectives;
- The Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) match-making sessions.
The high-level international forum will be opened by Mr Juhan Parts, Minister of Economics and Communication of Estonia; Dr Wolfgang Blank, Chairman of ScanBalt; Ms Maive Rute, Director, Directorate E – Biotechnologies, Agriculture, Food, DG Research, EU Commission, and Prof Horst Klinkmann, Chairman, BioCon Valley, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany.
