Each of the Nordic countries has its own policy in regard to immigration, and each has something to learn from the success stories and shortcomings of its neighbours. The region’s ministers for Nordic cooperation launched a joint project last week which, over the next few years, will aim to find better ways of integrating refugees and immigrants.

The ministers see potential for working together in the field of social welfare and health care, on labour market issues, in developing language courses, in the planning of housing and education and in raising awareness among the newcomers of equality.

In 2013 the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Estonia initiated a Nordic-Baltic project concerning migration and associated demographic developments. We plan to organise a conference on immigration and integration in 2016 which, due to its topical nature, we have extended to two days: 31 March & 1 April. More information will be available soon.
