Two entries from Estonia made it to the 15 finalists of an ad competition organised by the campaign "Think.Eat.Save" aimed at combating food waste. The public vote was won by an entry titled "Support a Better World" by Icelandic designer Thórdis Claessen, who was awarded the first prize and 5,000 euros.
Eight, that is, more than half of the entries which made it to the final round, came from Denmark. Also, two entries came from Latvia, and one from Russia, Sweden and Iceland respectively. On 4 October, Dagfinn Høybråten, Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers, will hand over the favourite of the jury at a major food waste event "Think.Eat.Save" in Copenhagen.
The 15 finalists will be displayed at a travelling exhibition in all Nordic and Baltic countries. The entries are available for viewing at the official webpage of Nordic co-operation.
This spring, the UN and the Nordic Council of Ministers launched an ad competition "Think.Eat.Save" to address the problem of food waste. The goal of the competition was to find the best advertisement to discourage wasting food. It was a requirement that the advertisement be usable as a poster and a newspaper ad.
