An unique online platform presenting Nordic films for educational purposes – Nordic Video Library in Estonia – will be launched on 25th of March at the Tallinn Film and Media School in the framework of school's anniversary week.

The pioneering platform Nordic Video Library in Estonia has been initiated by the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Estonia and developed by the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF).

"Nordic countries and Estonia have been culturally very close. And therefore the awareness of Nordic films could be higher. With the new platform our goal is to provide recent and older Nordic films for free for film students, lecturers and also Nordic language centres in Estonia. PÖFF, which had the technical platform already developed, joined the initiative and now the platform is ready to use," said Berth Sundström, Director of the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Estonia.

The online library provides altogether 36 films from all Nordic countries including Roy Andersson's award-winning "Songs from the second floor", Bent Hamer's "Kitchen Stories", Tomas Alfredson's "Let the Right One In" and Klaus Härö's "The New Man".

"The line-up will be updated throughout the year. In the future we would like to also involve the Nordic film archives to provide classics, as well," said Tiina Lokk from the PÖFF about the initiative.

The Nordic Video Library in Estonia will be accessible for students and lecturers of educational institutions in Estonia.

The library was funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Estonia and managed by the PÖFF.

During its anniversary week from March 25th to 28th the Baltic Film and Media School is also screening the latest student works that were made from March 2012 to March 2013.
